What are your WWE TLC PPV predictions?

This is the full lineup for the TLC PPV as far as I know: Cena vs. Sheamus (Tables), Undertaker vs. Batista (Chairs), Christian vs. Shelton (Ladders), Jerishow vs. DX (TLC), Morrison vs. McIntyre (IC title), Orton vs. Kofi and Michelle vs. Mickie James-Canton (Women’s) added last night @ SD. Thoughts? Predictions? Let’s discuss.

I’ll write full predictions on the weekend. Right now I’m going with Cena, Undertaker (I think Batista gets it at the Rumble), Shelton, DX, Morrison (feud will continue), Orton (hope I’m wrong) and Michelle (will continue). I want to read some of your predictions, though. I have the right to change my mind and it’s always good to get other thoughts.

Cena/Sheamus: I think the logical outcome would be for Cena to retain. However if they are planning Cena7Undertaker at Mania, they could give the belt to Sheamus.
Taker/Batista: The Phenom vs the Monster. I could see Taker retaining. Batista will get the belt at the Royal Rumble.
Christian/Shelton: John didn’t you book this match once in a fantasy-booking for a ppv? Bot are really good, and if given enough time this could be a really cool match. I hope Shelton wins, if that means Christian will get drafted to Smackdown.
Jerishow/DX: My strong love for Jericho (in a very manly kinda way), makes me say Jerishow! However they are facing Trips and HBK, which makes you question everything. DX will probably win – sadly enough. I want Jericho on Raw!
Morrison/McIntyre: A tough call. Officials appear to be high on McIntyre, so I could see him win. I like Morrison a lot, so maybe a loss could lead to maineventing soon. I hope so…. Vis mere
Orton/Kofi: I hope they get a lot of time. Potentially a very good match. I like Orton “building” new stars. It’s fresh and cool. I think logic will call for Kofi to win clean, but who knows with WWE
Michelle vs MJC: Am I the only one thinking this match has a MJC win written all over?

    Going with;

    Cena
    ‘Taker
    Shelton
    McCool
Kofi (here’s hoping, I don’t have faith in WWE’s push “technique” though after what they did when they buried Legacy at HIAC)
Morrison (shame about them “giving up” on Dolph – and Swagger for that matter! Not on Raw this week…)

As for JeriShow, I hope that they see sense and leave the belts on them. You’ve said it God knows how many times that Raw is so much better with Jericho on it – promo-wise, heaven forbid a match longer than 10 minutes happens! – and I really can’t see HHH and HBK coming over to SmackDown to feud with the likes of The Hart Dynasty (whom really need a storyline).

Your “beat-down on TV, win on the PPV” theory has given me the ‘Taker and Cena win predictions. I just hope that it’s wrong with DX.

The only good thing to come out of Jericho dropping the tag titles would be to become the World Champ and hold it up until WrestleMania.

  3. December 9, 2009 at 10:47 AM

God I hope Sheamus slams Cena through a table and that would leave Cena vs Sheamus at the Rumble which would be ok for me.
Christian needs to lose and get moved to Raw and Benjamin deserves the title.
Jerishow I can see Big Show lifting Jericho on his shoulders and them getting the title without having to set a ladder now thats something new for creative. Even Shawn Michaels lost at a PPV so I can see McIntyre losing here. Kofi vs. Orton I predict it ending in a Double DQ here and them getting a decent match at the Rumble. Mickie James Canton won’t win sorry John because unlike the men’s championship the women’s championship changes every 5 PPVs and plus McTaker is dating Undercool so I can’t see either of them losing.

    in recap:
    Winners
Sheamus, Undercool, Shelton, Jerishow, Morrison, Double DQ, McTaker

  4. December 9, 2009 at 11:05 AM

    Cena wins, fans will boo.
    Taker wins by DQ
    DX wins.
McCool wins, no one will care.
McIntyre cheats to win the IC belt.
Kofi, w/ Ted costing Randy the match some how.
My gut says Christian but I’m going out on a limb and saying Shelton.

  5. December 9, 2009 at 11:16 AM

I’m glad to see my “beat up on TV, win on PPV” in use. I swear I’ve been using it for like a decade. I don’t know what the success rate is, but it’s got to be about 80% or so, right?

Reminds me of the old 80s “Named Team always wins” Rule where the Rock ‘n Roll Express would face George X and Alfred Y or the Killer Bees face Mark A and Joe Z and you automatically know the Express or the Bees are are gonna win.

I’ll go out on a limb here and say Casper beats Cena with some accidental table break so that it doesn’t make Super Cena look like he lost, then rematch at the rumble will see Cena get it back in a 3 way with Orton and Casper (since Orton will get a shot since Cena isn’t champ and we all know VKM loves triple threats. I also am picking Taker to retain, so having both belts retained wouldn’t make sense since it would give them a shred of credibility. 2) Taker retains until the rumble where batista wins and goes on to feud with hopefully John Morrison. 3) Morrison retains the IC until the Rumble or evn Elim. Chamber PPV. Gotta make him look good here if they wanna keep building him toward being a main eventer. 4) Shelton wins in the match of the nite, expect some new innovative moves. Its way overdue to not have a belt on Benjamin, becuz even though he can’t talk on mic, he is a superior athlete and wrestler and better than 85% of the roster, maybe more. Plus it opens up the option of moving Christian which better happen, smackdown hopefully, or wherever Jericho is. 5) I’m up in the air on DX vs JeriShow…my heart wants Jerishow to win, but my gut says HHH wants a belt on his waist and cried to momma Steph, so they probably win in a 3 star match, nothing great outside of jericho or HBK, HHH won’t take a crazy bump, and Show won’t do anything crazy, so unfortunatly I see HBK with a superkick to Show, he falls inot ladder knocking jericho off the top and to the outside, allowing HHH to climb the ladder and hoist the united…ahem. Unified tag team titles, PS. Make them into 1 belt please. 6) womans match, who cares , ill just say MJ-C to make John happy.

I’m going with Sheamus to win the world title since they seem to be very high on him. I’m not sure on the other world title match though. They might want to stick the title with Taker, or give it to Batista to continue feuding with Ray over the title since Taker is limited. I dunno, could go either way but I’m sensing a Batista win.
As for the ECW title match, I think Shelton Benjamin will finally win the title which makes Christian open to move to either SD or Raw for whatever reason the come up with, or eventually at the 2010 draft.
As for the rest, I see Kofi, DX, McIntyre and Mickie winning. I hope DX wins so that Jericho can go back to singles.

  8. TKO
    December 9, 2009 at 12:29 PM

I say cena will win since cena has the belt at the tribute show. Taker will cool Batista off til rumble like said before. shelton needs the belt as smackdown is in need of stars like christian. dx will win but it may be a short reing to keep jerishow on raw…rematch clause. you know trips want to end the ppv with his conan pose with both belts. mickie wont win yet but maybe on smackdown soon or the rumble. morrison wins, mcintyre chases the title longer. orton needs to beat kofi clean but it needs to be the kind of clean that still puts kofi over. wwf fully loaded 2000 (taaker vs angle/hhh vs y2j/rock vs benoit) all the fresh guys lost in ways that still put them over…hope that happens. im payin for the ppv so i hope i get a good show

Not gonna do a full set of predictions, just the ones I’m interested in:

    1. Cena vs. Sheamus – Sheamus, then Cena wins it back after an extended double-match. I think they gave it away by having Cena mention the rematch, and I’m betting Sheamus wins with some kind of cheap shot that puts Cena through a table. Cena invokes the rematch, goes Super Cena and tables Sheamus to get the title back. Sheamus tastes gold without putting it on an untested new star.

    2. Jeri-Show vs. DX – I totally wanna say Jeri-Show, because I want Jericho on both shows, but they’ve been playing the “omg, DX has never taken gold angle too hard.”

    3. Undertaker vs. Batista – Batista takes the title after interference from Jeri-Show, setting up Batista v. (?) for the Rumble and Jericho as the fresh meat for the Undertaker Streak at Wrestlemania.

    4. Orton vs. Kofi – Kofi by DQ, with a “surprise” face turn by Dibiase.

  10. Tabitha
    December 9, 2009 at 3:52 PM

Cena/Sheamus – I’m picking Sheamus to win, with a rematch at Rumble in which Cena will capture it back.

JeriShow vs. DX – DX. Not that I want them to. I just think they will.

Undertaker vs. Batista (Chairs) – Batista. Much as I love Taker, I’m surprised he’s held on to it for this long.

Christian vs. Shelton (Ladders) – I’m picking Shelton. Cause the Magic 8 Ball told me to.

Morrison vs. McIntyre (IC title) – I’m gonna pick McIntyre but think he’ll drop it soon after

Orton vs. Kofi – Kofi for the push..I MEAN..win.

Michelle vs. Mickie James-Canton (Women’s) I’m picking your bride on this one. Least she SHOULD get it just for the whole Piggie James thing.

  11. Jon
    December 9, 2009 at 4:15 PM

    1. Cena vs Sheamus- Cena beats everyone. He has been beaten up twice now before the match AND not even the Cena haters want Sheamus to win. Cena also has repeatedly wanted a rematch AFTER HE WON. Khali 2007 comes to mind. It just gives them a reason to do one more match so that Cena can pin Sheamus and since its the Rumble, no one has to care about the match to buy the PPV. CENA OVERCOMES THE ODDS AGAIN!

    2. JeriShow vs DX- logic and booking says that DX wins here but there more too it than that. Jericho has the Tag belts solely for the purpose of getting him on Raw, while not breaking the brand extension rules. Shawn Michaels doesn’t work Tuesday nights, and there is nothing for Hunter to do on Smackdown besides bury Punk (and he would have to go out of his way for that). The Big Show has no logical singles opponents and with knee surgery and his age, the belts are doing wonders for him. If DX wins the titles here, they would lose them back to JeriShow shortly, but since they have put their best entertainer to work making them seem important,it would be counterproductive to have them traded for a week. Also, JeriShow has lost to DX twice now and has yet to get the win back. But assuming logic applies to the way HHH is booked may be my downfall. JeriShow wins a la Jericho v Michaels No Mercy 2008. This should be match of the night so long as Show and Hunter keep the weapons at a maximum and the ladder climbing at a minimum.

Christian vs Shelton Benjamin – If this gets 20 minutes, it will be MOTN, and a MOTY contender. Both of these guys are absolute pro’s with the ladder gimmick and if Vince lets them pull out all the stops this will be the nights Gold Standard (Thanks for posting Michael Cole shilling a WWE catch phrase). There is no clear winner for the Rumble right now. The Rumble winner is going to win a belt at Mania since the past two have not. Christian seems like the only person with the credibility to carry that role since heel Batista will have the WHT. Shelton wins this one in a thriller so that Christian can build toward a meaningful Mania program. The thought of him winning the Rumble is probably wishful thinking on my part, but pairing him up with Edge to beat JeriShow at Mania is a possibility and it gets all 4 of them in a match. Either way he needs to move to Smackdown and has to drop the belt to do it.

Taker vs Batista part 7- They have done normal rules (WM23), LMS (Backlash 07), steel cage (Smackdown May 07), normal rules with Stone Cold as ref (Cyber Sunday 07), HIAC (Survivor Series 07), and No DQ (Smackdown April 08). They official count is 2-2-2 with Taker winning Mania and April 08 with HBK-ference and Batista winning Cyber Sunday and HIAC with Edge-ference. This one is going to Batista. His heel character is incredibly intriguing because its so simple, and yet so true to form. If it was a real sport there would be emotionless competitors out only for themselves and their success. He is a mixture of Stone Cold’s whoop every ass to win the belt and Edge’s do anything or anyone to win the belt. He is going to take the WHT to Mania and I will enjoy seeing Taker get completely wrecked by chair shots after he murdered CM Punk’s momentum that Hardy worked so hard to build. Batista via chair shot destruction.

Orton vs Kofi- Easily the most interesting match on the card. Kofi needs a win here to legitimize him one more step. Orton, though, has only gotten the upperhand one time. I think Kofi gets the win here in a 20 minute match. Orton has megaheel status now and if the program with Hunter couldn’t kill his heat, nothing can. Kofi roars toward Mania. Kofi via Trouble in Paradise.

Morrison vs McIntyre – Should get 10-15 minutes and would be good. I have Sheamus losing here, which means DX’s other guy gets to win. Morrison has had a good run with the title but he has faced everyone there is for him and will probably get a title shot at the Rumble vs monster Batista unless he is in the Rumble match to win or finish in the final few. McIntyre wins, but Morrison is protected (legs on the ropes or something, maybe Batista v Jericho 2004 where Jericho has the rope but Batista’s body blocks the refs view unlike Maryse vs Gail Kym.)

Michelle vs MJC- I don’t care. Mickie should win, but probably won’t get the belt. Bathroom break time because MichTaker is boring as hell. Mickie via DQ, gets the belt at the Rumble.

  12. Michael Ryne
    December 9, 2009 at 4:17 PM

John Cena vs. Sheamus – Cena will win, and I think it will be a clean victory…thus destroying Sheamus’ push.

JeriShow vs. DX – DX will win mainly because they keep saying how DX has never won the Tag Titles so I’m sure they’re setting it up so they win.

Taker vs. Batista – Undertaker wins. I too think Batista wins at Rumble and not here.

Christian vs. Shelton – Shelton wins, basically because Christian had the title for so long and we all know WWE hates lone title reigns now.

Morrison vs. McIntyre – McIntyre wins for the same reason as the Christian/Benjamin match.

Orton vs. Kofi – Orton wins, but I think Legacy interferes so Kofi’s push is safe.
Who knows maybe this goes to Wrestlemania, i wouldn’t put it past them.

Michelle vs Mickie James-Canton – Michelle wins just because I don’t think WWE trusts Mickie right now.

Cena vs. Sheamus (Tables): I bet Cena wins and then Carlito comes out and smashes him through a table; setting up Carlito vs. Cena at the Rumble. *crosses fingers*
Undertaker vs. Batista (Chairs): Batista will win, and maybe he’ll face Morrison at the Rumble (I can’t think of anyone else…Kane? Matt Hardy!).
Christian vs. Shelton (Ladders): Shelton wins, and Christian goes on to win the Royal Rumble. *hopeful*
Jerishow vs. DX (TLC): DX will win. Then Jeri-Show (<WWE approved) will win the titles back the next night, because HHH was too stupid to realize that Jericho would still be able to show up too the 3 hour Slammy Awards Raw. (dunno if it that makes logical sense, but I don't think that matters.
Morrison vs. McIntyre (IC title): What if McIntyre wins the belt, and then he relinquished it on Smackdown!; saying that he doesn't want a second tier title, and that he's after the world championship. Alternatly, McIntyre wins, and Morrison goes on to face Batista for the World Heavyweight Title.
Orton vs. Kofi: I'll just go with the "Ted screws up and makes Orton lose" angle; settting up yet more Orton star making!
Michelle vs. Mickie James-Canton (Women’s): I don't like calling her "Mickie James-Canton", but I will, out of respect for you, John (uh, yeah). I think Mickie should win, so that she can have a feud with Beth or Natalya, but I think Michelle could win and feud with Beth or maybe even Beth and Mickie at once.

First time saying anything to you John, but I'm a fan of your's (not a big fan, but still a fan). Only for the wrestling though, but I think I've been a fan since 3 or 4 years ago.

Cena/Sheamus – Sheamus wins, probably accidentally and thus a rematch at the RR. Probably would be a mistake putting the belt on him this early, but if you are sleeping with HHH, then who knows…

Taker/Batista – Taker here, then Batista at the RR. I would be fine with Batista winning at TLC and carrying it through WM. Te rematch at RR (or even at TLC) could have Batista destroy Taker and keep him out of action until close to WM.

Jerishow/DX – I hope its Jerishow, but since DX has never won the belts, it will probably be DX. The WWE needs Jerishow to carry the belts, hopefully to set up a feud with Christian and a returning Edge. That match at WM would be wonderful! Hopefully DX loses, they split, HHH goes heel and we get a WM with HHH vs. Michaels. If HHH had a championship going into this match, it wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Benjamin/Christian – Christian, thank you for carrying ECW for the past 8 months, not it is time for you to move to greener (and more golden?!?) pastures. Shelton wins and with the right amount of time, could be the MOTN.

Morrison/McIntyre – I could see DM winning here or in a rematch at the RR. Morrison is ready to shine and has a DVD coming out (don’t know if it coincides with the RR or not) but I am going to say that he wins the RR and beats Batista at WM for the title.

Orton/Kofi – cheap finish likely leading to a street fight at the RR (OR a 4-way dance with Sheamus (if he wins belt) and Cena), who knows. Maybe Teddy costs Orton the match here or at the RR. Ima say Orton wins though.

MJC/McTaker – McTaker wins, sorry John. Like Michael said above, the WWE probably doesn’t trust Mickie right now. If this is a squash, then MJ is done.

Batista vs. Undertaker (world champion) in a chairs match
-Even though I still don’t fully understand the concept of the first ever chairs match, the Taker/Batista fueds in the past hae been ok for me, plus I really like Batista’s heel turn. I don’t know why it has to be a chairs match, a normal match would do, but it still should be good.
Winner: Undertaker (Batista will win at the Rumble).

John Cena(WWE champ) vs. Sheamus in a tables match
-It’s great that finally someone new is in the main event, but I have not been a big fan of the build up towards the match. Sheamus beats up Mark Cuban, a timekeeper, Jerry Lalwer, and Santino, while Cena is serious all of a sudden. The match just doesn’t intrigue me, but it will probably be fine.
Winner: John Cena (why? because he’s SUPERMAN).

Shelton Benjamin vs. Christain (ECW champion)in a latter match
-This match would steal the show if Vince would let it, but he won’t because he dosen’t care about ECW. They are both great athlete’s who can both shine in a latter match. This should be a very exciting match.
Winner: Christain ( I just don’t think Shelton could be the face of ECW as champ)

JeriShow (tag champions) vs. DX in a TLC match
-This match should be good, Jericho and Michaels should be great with the latters, the Big Show should be great with the chairs and tables, and Triple H should be good as usual. I could see this match as the main event.
Winner: DX (I’ve also been the using the get beat up on TV win on pay per view theory for years, and it’s usually true).

John Morrison (IC champion) vs. Drew Mcintyre
-This match should be a usual 10-15 min. good pay per view match. Mcintyre’s been great and i can see him as a future world champ, and i think Morrison will get there sooner then latter. They had a very good match on Smcak down and should be just as good at the pay per view.
Winner: John Morrison (Mcintyre will get it eventually, and Morrison will then move on to the World title).

    Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton
-This is one of the best feud in the WWE right now. Finally Orton is putting someone over, and Kofi is shinning. They should put on a good match TLC, i’m glad they did not give this match away on tv, this is a pay per view build up match.
Winner: Randy Orton ( It’s Orton, he is not that unselfish).

Michelle (Woman’s champion) vs. Mickie James-Canton
-I not sure if this is actually a match on the card, becuase i have not heard about it, but i guess it is. Not much to say about this one.
Winner: Mickie James ( I guess it’s time for a new Woman’s champion).

Final thoughts: It seems like a goos card, as long as they don’t add anymore matches. No Swagger (who can’t even make Raw anymore) or Ziggler, and no Legacy, they made the legendary Shawn Micheals submit at Breaking Point and now they do nothing. I was looking forward to a Dibiase face turn, but it looks like that won’t happen. To bad Punk’s not on the card. I usually order this pay per view, since I ordered Survivor Series, but Sunday’s my birthday, so i’m hopping for a good show.

    Cena
    Taker
    DX
    Kofi
    Shelton
    McCool
    Morrison

I know it seems rather face heavy but it will set up perfectly for the Rumble.

  19. December 9, 2009 at 9:55 PM

Cena,Undertaker,D-X.Orton,Shelton,Mickie,Drew. I love Morrison, that’s why I hope he loses so he can move onto bigger things. I think Orton will win because he has been on the short end of this feud, as long as Kofi looks strong I’m ok with it. Cena will win, but Sheamus better bring it or Stephanie’s husband will be in the doghouse.

  20. December 9, 2009 at 9:56 PM

Oh, I forgot about ECW, I hope Shelton wins, for the same reason I want Drew to win the IC belt, so Christian can move onto bigger things.

I’m focusing on the Morrison vs McIntyre match.

Since Kofi has a major push on Raw, I think that Morisson is gonna have one bigger. From that standpoint, I’m assuming he’s gonna have to drop the belt sooner than later.

They wanted to have Dolph as a champ, but for some reason, they changed their mind. They wanted to push him, but that Intercontinental push is going to be Drew’s one. He will be the next IC champ. Maybe his time won’t be at the ppv, but it will be soon after. But if they want Drew to have a bigger impact, he has to play a big role on a PPV. I recognize the theory of «he was beat at Smackdown but will win at the PPV», but this time, it won’t happen.

So, Morisson, without the IC Title, he’s going to have bigger matches/feuds with bigger stars (see Kofi). He will win the Royal Rumble. Maybe I’m the only who’s seeing that, but with his new kinda pyro and he’s DVD that will be release by mid-feburary, I think they wanna build something big for him. BTW, he proved that he can handle big matches with Edge, Jericho and Mysterio.

With Sheamus, Kofi, Miz, Drew, Tatsu, the Hart Found, Bourne, Swagger, Ryder and Croft/Beretta, the future looks bright. Now, the time is for Kofi, Sheamus and Morisson to shine. Hopefully, Ryder will change brands and become a star in this buisness.

That’s my pov. Thanks and have a great ppv.

Sheamus wins WWE title, McIntyre wins IC, DX win Tag Titles, all 4 men in the ring…NEW DX!!!! Maybe not.

Taker win. Taker hasn’t had a decent title run yet without getting injured so they’ll keep the strap on him as long as they can and retire him at Mania with his first loss. Streak over, freak over.

Sheamus over Cena quick, fluke win. Cena demands instant rematch, Cena wins, as they hinted not so subtly on Raw. Fued continues.

DX title win for 1 night, rematch agreement blah blah.

McIntyre win with a run in, possible Miz. Morrison moves up to next level. McIntyre to fued with another break through wrestler, possibly R Truth.

Orton to put over Kofi clean and fair play to him, most of the other top guys wouldn’t. Orton to go on putting new talent over but wins back a world title at Mania for the effort.

Don’t care about the womens match, that’s time for a beer run.

I think you have it pretty well pegged. Only spot I’d disagree is Kingston over orton, they have put enough into him and the crowd has responded to warrent a win with no belts or anything at stake. As far as cena vs shameous, I feel like for shameous to be worth a damn he needs to win the belt. It’s a tables match, if he wins here and loses to cena at the rumble then he is a very credible person fir the elimination chmber match at no way out and money in the bank at WM. Did you see the ending of ECW? Great spot to hype the Match with the ladder, too bad jr couldn’t call it, that spot plus JR equals ppv sales. I’m paying for this ppv. This is the first time in 5 years I’ve ordered a ppv that wasn’t Wm or the rumble. Lots of fresh matches that I’d like to see without the wrestlers having to plan for a commercial break. All in all this has the potential to be WWE’s. Best ppv since summerslam

  25. December 10, 2009 at 9:38 PM

Cena/Sheamus – I am hoping for Seamus! I used to watch the guy on The Wrestling Channel in England when he was The Irish Curse Sheamus O’Shaunessy. And he was the best thing over here. Now seeing him across the pond doing just as well is awesome!

Taker/Batista – I don’t see how ‘Taker is gonna win (based on how they have built up to the match). Everything logical is pointing to Batista so in typical Smackdown Creative team style – I chose Undertaker!

Jerishow/DX – I wouldn’t be suprised to see DX win the titles, but I don’t see why they would want them…They should both be in singles matches at ‘Mania the only reason to give them the belts is to give them a reason for breaking apart and feuding with eachother

Benjamin/Christian – Get Christian to Smackdown now! Get him in a feud with CM Punk, get him in a title match before next SummerSlam! Give Shelton the title he deserves it and alot more!

Morrison/McIntyre – This could be a breakout show, if Seamus, Kofi and McIntyre get the W’s then those 3 are on their way to the big time, however I still think Morrison should be on his way to the big time before Drew…hard one to call. But I think I’m gonna have to go for Morrison retaining!

Orton/Kofi – please let Kofi win! Even if it is cheap, even if it is by Ted turning on Orton just put Kofi over, Orton doesn’t need to be put over Kofi does or it has been a pointless feud.

MJC/McTaker – Don’t get me wrong I want Mickie to win! but I think Shell will take the title home with her. But look on the bright side you should get yourself first in the line to comfort MJ(hmm turns out that needs the C o nthe end or it just means Michael Jackson…) ahem… MJC!

Could be a top notch PPV I’m looking forward to it which is weird. It’s amazing what fresh matches can do! If only creative knew that about 2 years ago…
